🎭✨ **Spotlight on Senior Projects: Mackenzie Hollenbeck's Journey in Theater** ✨🎭 With just 17 days until our Fine Arts Fair, we're thrilled to showcase another incredible senior project. Today, we're shining the spotlight on Mackenzie Hollenbeck, a name synonymous with acting at our school. However, for her Senior Project, Mackenzie decided to step into a new role - that of a director and producer of a one-act play! Mackenzie's ambition took her and our school's talents to the Panhandle One-Act Competition in Hemingford, Nebraska. It's a milestone moment, considering Edgemont hasn't graced this competition since the '90s! Competing against six other schools, Mackenzie's play secured a commendable fifth place, just a whisker away from fourth, showcasing our burgeoning talent in the arts. But the journey didn't stop at the competition. Mackenzie also brought her theatrical vision to life right here at Edgemont, during the student council's Burgers & Bingo night. The event was a hit, drawing a large crowd that was captivated by the performance. Dedicating over thirty hours to rehearsals, set creation, and consultations with Hemingford's theater staff, Mackenzie's commitment has been nothing short of inspirational. Her hope? To ignite a passion for one-act plays in Edgemont for years to come. Let's applaud Mackenzie for her dedication, creativity, and the legacy she aims to build at Edgemont. Here's to more arts, more theater, and more traditions that bring us together and spotlight our incredible students' talents. Bravo, Mackenzie! 🎉🎭 Check out her and other students’ senior project at the following page: https://www.edgemont.k12.sd.us/page/senior-projects #EdgemontHigh #SeniorProjectSpotlight #TheaterLife #OneActPlays #StudentAchievement #FutureTraditions #MightyMoguls #FullSteamAhead #LayingTheTracks

Uppers worked with hashtag blocks in library today, working through a list of challenges. They had to make a structure that could hold one book - one student made a structure that held a whole series! One student made a tall giraffe, and another made a tiny orange. Love to see their creativity!

The level 3 students were pioneers today and made hardtack and butter to go along with our westward expansion unit in social studies. They made the hardtack and butter from scratch then enjoyed tasting them. Some students thought it was pretty tasty while others were not so impressed.

It was a great morning! Edgemont, Mt. View Lodge #161 sponsored the Child ID event and the YMCA assisted to process 60% of the children from K-8. This program provides identification information for parents to use in case the unthinkable ever happens. The information is used to help find lost and missing children. We so appreciate the Lodge coming in to provide this service, and all of the volunteers who help make it happen!

The Masons will be at the school tomorrow offering the CHIP (Child Identification Program) for all of our community kids. If the unthinkable should ever happen, the CHIP program provides information to help find a lost or missing child. The program is free, the information is confidential (parents receive the packet with the information) and it can live in the freezer indefinitely. If you have not received a permission packet, please stop at the school tomorrow to fill it out so you can have this valuable information about your child, should it ever be needed.
