For Middle and High School Students, we start the first day with an assembly and icebreaker each year. To start off the 2023-2024 school year, we decided to have the students complete a Flipgrid. Flipgrid is a website that allows teachers to create 'grids' to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called 'topics,' and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display. We challenged the High School and Middle School students to complete a series of tasks for their Flipgrid icebreaker. Therefore, you may see video responses where students are challenged to create a cheer, find an odd school supply, introduce themselves, share their hope for the new year, and more! Coincidentally, we hosted our last Flipgrid in the 2019-2020 school year, when this year's seniors were 8th-grade students. We laughed at how much they have grown physically, but it was also exciting to realize how much they have grown intellectually and maturity-wise. We are excited to celebrate them this year and encourage everyone to celebrate their students' growth they made and continue to make. We are proud of the graduates we produce at Edgemont and know that our grads leave with more than book smarts (EHS grads continue to score above the state average in math and English); they leave with a moral compass, service-oriented spirit, commitment to their community, and the ability to hold their head high that they have graduated as a #MightyMogul. Enjoy these awkward first-day videos, and remember that high school is over before you know it. We hope to savor the memories we make in the meantime. Go, Moguls! #LayingTheTracks #FullSteamAhead #MightyMoguls This year's Flipgrid Link: https://flip.com/+5p83rnz3 2019 Flipgrid Link: https://flip.com/+dx6glrlk
